2003 Mini Cooper Car Stereo Install with T3 Audio, Hybrid Audio, Kenwood, and Rockford Fosgate

Saturday, December 17th, 2011 admin

Just a quick video of one of our recent projects. We recorded this for anyone out there who has a Mini Cooper that is interested in upgrading from their horrible sounding factory stereos. If you would like some information or ideas, please let us know! *We usually recommend mounting the amp in the rear of the vehicle, but this particular installation was requested to be mounted under the front passenger seat. Thanks for watching!

Cars.com’s Joe Wiesenfelder takes you through the 2008 Mini Cooper S Clubman. It competes with the Volkswagen GTI and MazdaSpeed3. Shot, edited and produced by: Lindsay Bjerregaard

Hello, was wondering where you or your shop was located? Install looks great, nice and clean.

Hello, was wondering where you or your shop was located? Install looks great, nice and clean.

You can’t just shove a regular 12″ box back there huh? I bet it must be pretty loud for such a small car.

@oppisiteofafredfan its simply a high frequency speaker, gives only highs tones.

By 00stangmang on December 17th, 2011 at 3:45 am

@mgawa55555 Not enough, lol. I usually add things to custom installs for free because I have a quick idea that I want to run with. The Mini Logo panel was something I came up with while building the box, so I threw it in for free. My customers like me. :)

Would you be able to send me the dimensions you used for the box at freitasemail@gmail.com. Thank you

@00stangmang

how much did you charge the customer for this install?

By oppisiteofafredfan on December 17th, 2011 at 6:39 am

what does a tweeter do?

By allgood0187420 on December 17th, 2011 at 6:46 am

is the p400.4 a 4 channel amp? if so when it would it be a good match for 4 6×8 door speakers 80 watt rms each….

By thelilpimp622 on December 17th, 2011 at 7:40 am

i got a mini cooper s 2003. theres no spare tire compartment. where would i fit the subs considering that hatchback trunk is so small?

By BIGGIEDEVIL on December 17th, 2011 at 8:04 am

love the install, looks great and super clean. i have the exact rockford 400.4 amp and it’s an amazing amp powering 14 rockford fosgate punch series speakers! i plan on doing the same kind of install you did in this vid to save room in my family car 5*

By MrLegend139 on December 17th, 2011 at 8:18 am

does this have a dock for an ipod, iphone etc to connect to?
and how much did this cost?
thanks!

By 00stangmang on December 17th, 2011 at 8:46 am

@dodge112815 I couldn’t agree with you more, but like I said in the video… It was mounted there per the request of the customer. Believe me, I strongly suggested against it. The owner insisted that it be mounted there as she had a friend whose amp was mounted there and she was happy with how that was done.

By dodge112815 on December 17th, 2011 at 8:49 am

Nice clean install, I think i would have installed the amp in a better place. That’s just me tho,

By MakeLuvNotKids on December 17th, 2011 at 8:50 am

My question is why is T3 audio so fucking epic!?!?! I mean come on! You just cant beat it! I love my tsns 12

i have the harmon/kardon upgrade on my car is there a way to do a similar thing as this if so how much is it likely to be?

Do you have a shop? If so do you mind posting the price of the install? I am specifically interested in the cost of the custom box, which looks really clean btw.

0:52 (lol) My mini cooper’s panel is always like “that”

@senor215 I think the Clarus are a great mid level speaker. The installation and tuning will make a huge different with any brand of speaker, that could explain your disappointment. If you are interested in getting the absolute best sound reproduction possible, I would suggest considering the Legatia Pro line from Hybrid Audio.

What your thoughts on the Clarus 6.5 Components, I have a pair from my old install but wasn’t really impressed. But I think that may have been more of a tuning issue.

hi i am looking to soon get a mini cooper and would like to get a decent sound system for as little money as possible aswell as having my boot still, would it be possible for you to email me a walkthough on how to make a sub box to that top spec you have, and materials needed? if so my emails jct5@hotmail.co.uk cheers :)

not “spring loaded” dumbass its called hydraulics.

-the sunshade doesn’t block the cold in the winter.–
1. its a sunshade (meaning it blocks the sun :) ))))) )
2. there wasn’t any snow outside
why so negative ??
i get it, its not the car for you
but its still a really cool car, my opinion off course:)

I can’t stand that they think putting the speedo in the center is a great idea. I want to just have to glance down quick to see my speed, not look right.

How unprofessional. It looks like Dante’s friend from clerks just gave this review.

By zorokakashi on December 17th, 2011 at 5:55 pm

this guy is not a hater.

its the minor annoyances that will become major to some ppl, cudos to him for bringing that out.

By hondaftw1234 on December 17th, 2011 at 6:40 pm

lol bugin the crap out of me

By FlyingFooBalls on December 17th, 2011 at 7:16 pm

@chicarillo my dimensions are similar lol, how was leg room in terms of the steering wheel and dash near you knees

By FlyingFooBalls on December 17th, 2011 at 8:08 pm

throw the sport suspension on this car along with the 6 speed, and the car is fun as anything.

I really wanted a mini – I test the drove the base mini- That gave new meaning to the word Jerky ride. The S model was definitely a great improvement but stilla hint of jerky at low rpm. the controls are not intuitive – the guy is right about the Sun roof – how come they haven’t fixed that yet. Why no armrest and the optional one is not that great. I still love the Mini – who wouldn’t love the shape but there just too many compromises for long term ownership.

I’m not a fan of mini BUT he’s just being too negative, A friend of mine owns a club man and we haven noticed those “flaws” he mentions, you can see perfectly what you need to see on the rear view mirror, in handles great, and it’s comfortable to ride., Interior is tight but better than the standard mini, my only complain is that there is only 1 rear access door, i think that it would be better a 4 door configuration but i believe it is a great mini

Mini is an over priced car.

take out your tampon queer

By uncoverbrother on December 17th, 2011 at 11:17 pm

this seems like a very silly car. but one probably buys the lifestyle the mini projects, not the practicality.

If your to stupid that you cant read the ginormous speedometer numbers then all you have to do is look at the tach and there is a digital speed reading right there!!! If you scuff your fingers on the armrest then lift it up!!! That’s why it lifts up if its not height adjustable!!!

I don’t think this guy read the owner’s manual. If he wanted to see mph, he could have easily done so by changing the settings so the mph is shown digitally on the tachometer. The beauty of the MINI is the quirks, like the center speedometer that pays homage to the original created by the Alec Issigonis, and personally, I like the carrot/candy corn marks used for the fuel gauge.

@JoeCfb “this guy dresses like an 8 year old.”

LOL!

By USA4July1776 on December 18th, 2011 at 1:32 am

I just rented a “compact car” for Sixt in Spain for two weeks from now… it’s either a Peugeot 308, a Mini Clubman, a Ford Fusion or a Lancia Musa…

I thought that the Peugeot 308 looked tiny… before I got to THIS car! It does look cool though… whatever, it’ll be fun.

By projekt89130 on December 18th, 2011 at 1:37 am

The S models do.
